We would like to know what the Federal Aviation Administrator is doing to correct this situation. Many incidents of discomfort over long flights has come into the news, strange to note that it is gone unnoticed in Aviation history for a long time and even reports of the matter was never available in early aviation news either why? One reason could be due to the advent of modern Aviation. Now that the Aviation safety is a major factor world wide the international civil aviation organism must look into the matter carefully. Nowadays in many countries Aviation and the role of government are inseparable if we forget about business aviation for the moment.
Perhaps the most vivid in our memories is the case of that young new bride. Who died due to a massive clotting of blood, this ought to have caused some awareness and concern. Commercial Aviation Safety authorities should have come under increased criticism.
More recently a stand by remedy has been proposed although what good it will do remains to be seen. They advise passengers to just get up and move about (walk up and down the aisle) once or twice while in flight but just imagine the chaos this is going to create, if suddenly all the passengers start getting up and going up and down. The captain is going to have a nasty time adjusting the centre of gravity of the air craft during the entire flight! Let new guidelines be set in the interest of the further of the Aviation industry.
Incidentally have the latest aircraft, including the a380 super jumbo and its American equivalent (B777 or B787) taken into account this problem. We would also have to consider the factor of aviation security where many passengers who would be nervous due to natural fears of danger could be mistaken for terrorists. All this is only going to make the Aviation Insurance people happier. As this would be their next chance to open a new series of policies in this regard. This is going to increase the cost of the ticket. How are Aviation authorities going to cope in the face of already increasing costs of Aviation fuel too?

China to open up key domestic air routes to competition

BEIJING, (AFP) –The monopoly enjoyed by China’s three airlines on the nation’s most lucrative domestic routes will end by 2010 as part of plans to liberalize the aviation industry, states press said last week. Under the plan, the civil aviation administration of China will lift its control of domestic routes so that carriers can choose which routes they want to fly, the China daily reported, citing an official with the organization. Currently the nation’s three biggest carriers – Air China, China Eastern and China Southern – have a monopoly on most of the big profit-making routes.

“Liberalization of the transport services sector is a global trend, and China will follow the trend,” the newspaper quoted the administration’s deputy director, Yang Guoqing, as saying as he explained the plan. “We have drafted an overall policy (to) strengthen safety controls and gradually loosen other controls.”The China Daily said removing the monopoly would give a chance for small privately owned airlines and joint ventures to compete with the major carriers on the profitable routes.

Airline industry raises profit forecast, but debt weighs

VANCOUVER, Canada, (AFP) – The world airline industry last week raised its profit forecast for this year to five billion dollars, from 3.8 billion dollars, but said the sector was languishing in debt. Giovanni Bisignani, director general of international air transport association, made the announcement in Vancouver at the opening of IATA’s annual meeting. “While the results are encouraging, airlines are encouraging, airlines are a 470-billion-dollar industry,” he said. Calling a profit of five billion dollars “peanuts,” Bisignani said the industry needed 40 billion dollars “just to cover the cost of capital.” “The industry is moving in the right direction, but with 200 billion dollars of debt, the financial hole is deep. The challenge is to turn peanuts into sustainable profits,” he said.
The latest financial forecasts for the sector confirmed a healthy recovery from the nosedive that followed the September 2001 attacks in the United States and soaring fuel prices, sinking the sector in more than 40 billion dollars in losses over the past six years. IATA already had sharply revised upwards its 2007 estimate in April, from 2.5 billion dollars, as a relatively tourism and airline transport. IATA represents some 250 airlines which account for 94 percent of scheduled international air traffic. More than 150 airlines chief executives as well as top management from airports, civil aviation authorities, manufactures and non-governmental organizations attend the three-day event.

Gliders and Hang-gliders

MODERN GLIDERS ARE AMONG the most graceful and aerodynamically efficient of all aircraft. Unpowered but with a large wingspan (up to about 25m, or 82ft), gliders use currents of hot air, rising air (thermals) to stay aloft, and a rubber, elevators, and ailerons for control. Modern gliders have achieved flights of more than 1,450 km (900miles). Hang gliders consist of a simple frame across which rigid or flexible material is stretched to form the wings. The pilot is suspended below the wings in A-frame steers by shifting weight from side to side. Like glider, hang-gliders rely on thermals for lift.

Local Lankan airlines continue buisness, despite tourist

According to statement released by Deccan aviation Lanka their services are continuing although tourist arrivals are low. The CAA was created in 1972 to act as a public organization to oversee all elements of British domestic aviation. The CAA was formally made the government’s aviation regulator with the Civil Aviation Act in 1982, which replaced the Department of Transport in this role. Aerospace professionals, from engineers to pilots, need to know about the CAA’s regulatory functions and jurisdiction in order to better understand the British aerospace industry.

Aerospace professionals should first understand the jurisdiction in which the CAA provides regulation and consultation. The Civilian Aviation Authority is the sole regulator for flights within the United Kingdom, from small charters to regularly scheduled airliners. However, the international nature of airline travel has required consultation and team work with European aviation organizations in order to facilitate safe and efficient travels. When international regulations come into effect, the CAA’s offices in London act as the local office for the European Aviation Safety Agency. CAA officials also act on regulatory boards of the EASA which determine regulations and enforcement policies.

The CAA has broad authority as the United Kingdom’s regulatory of aviation and aerospace activities, which should be understood by aerospace professionals. The function of the CAA that professionals will become most familiar with is the licensing of aviation and aerospace professionals. Flight crew, engineering, and air traffic controller licensing all run through the CAA and regular license upgrades and renewals are required. In a similar vein, the CAA monitors medical regulations and facilitates physicals for aviation personnel that are involved in regular flights.

Aerospace professionals may become intimately familiar with the professional licensing aspects of the CAA but there are a number of other functions that are equally important. The CAA regulates the United Kingdom register of aircraft, which is necessary to maintain an accurate record of all planes in the region. As well, the CAA regulates the licensing of airplanes and other aircraft in the United Kingdom. The CAA not only regulates individual aircrafts and professionals but leads the charge against unfair aerospace business practices. The CAA’s regulatory function allows it to manage public aviation organizations while regulating against private monopolies. In all, the CAA’s jurisdictional and regulatory functions allow it to deal with safety and economic issues in the UK’s aerospace industry. Aerospace professionals who understand the nuances of the CAA will function better in their jobs.

By: Tony Beaumont

From History Of Aviation

From the earliest times a man was trying to find a way to bring him up to the skies and feel the flight. A human being invented numerous types of flying apparatus starting from the earliest one which was so primitive that an accident was inevitable. Men were dreaming to fly and created myths and legends about flying people who could give their lives to skies. Ancient Greeks, Chinese, Romans and skiffs created tons of legends about heroes who were the first pioneers of flying. The primitive first attempts to jump into the skies did always fail. Men made different wings imitating the birds but they ended with broken legs, arms and deaths.

The first man who could really find the way to fly for men was a person from the Renaissance epoch. It was a genius with prospective ideas and thoughts and his name was Leonardo da Vinci. Mainly he was famous at his times due to his genius pictures. However, he was a genius and prospective scientist as well. His drawings of flying machines could still impress their viewers because they were very much like a modern helicopter. Bearing in mind that the first helicopter was invented about five centuries later it could be difficult to understand how this genius Renaissance man managed to find the way of how to bring humans up to the skies.

The first air balloons appeared only in the eighteenth century but it required specific knowledge to maintain and could carry only a few people. Moreover, its principle of flying with hot air demanded too much gas supply which was very expensive, and air balloons could carry people so far.

By: Sharon White

Cbt And Aviation Training

The growth and maturity of CBT industry has been closely associated with computer based simulation for pilot training in aviation industry. Aviation CBT continues to demonstrate the new technology advance in CBT design and implementation though CBT is now widely adopted in education and corporate training. The Aviation Industry Computer-Based Training Committee (AICC) oversees and develops guidelines for aviation CBT in the design, development, delivery of training programs.

Although many aviation training schools use CBT, they actually are starting to add it into the actual flying. Pilots have to fly a simulated airplane in order to grasp the important maneuvers before going into the air. With CBT in every school, pilots do not have to feel anxious about what they have learned. By practicing and seeing results just through this type of aviation training, chances are they will succeed at a faster rate!

While there are different types of pilot lessons, recreational aviation clients can also benefit from this type of CBT. After all, learning about aviation supplies, and memorizing these aircraft supplies is only so exciting. By pretending you are in a real airplane, complete with david clark headsets, you can consume a greater amount of information when it is simulated. A hand on experience has always worked best with pilots, especially when they know that the real thing is much more important than a piece of paper. CBT changes perspectives and provides realistic information in a different light.

If you have a choice between a regular aviation training school and one that provides CBT, you should most certainly try out the one with the technology. Learning in a real airplane and taking courses has always been part of a pilot’s schedule. Although aviation supplies are anything but exciting, it is part of a pilot’s knowledge. Aircraft supplies just have to be known, especially if you have hundreds of passenger’s lives in your hands. However, when you have the opportunity to add CBT into that mix, along with simulated aircrafts, this could change everything. Pilots would no longer be afraid to spend extra time learning concepts they just don’t understand. They would try harder, because CBT makes learning fun and exciting. Though aviation training is a serious matter and not taken lightly, it doesn’t mean that comprehension has to be monotonous. CBT will work wonders for pilots, and passengers will surely be able to tell when they get aboard that plane.
By: Natalie Aranda

What It Takes To Be An Engineer In The Aviation Industry

The aviation industry may have been through some slow years in the recent past but even so the engineer positions have always been and are demand whether you are looking to work in the UK or anywhere else in the world. Those with an interest in flying have various reasons for making aviation the focus of their studies, but, the joy of learning to pilot aircraft is the main reason many people decide to attend aviation school.

Also known as flight schools or pilot training, aviation schools teach aspiring pilots about aerodynamics, geography, mechanics, weather, environmental conditions, and much more. They are in the business of training pilots in the operation of practically anything that flies: airplanes, helicopters, air balloons, and dirigibles. You can learn everything need to know about becoming a pilot from an FAA-approved aviation school.

Flight school requires learning about aviation technology as well as learning to fly airplanes, jets, and helicopters. Your flight training will be comprehensive, and may involve hundreds of hours of classroom study and discussion before you begin the process of flying aircraft.

Today's pilot is less likely to have a background in military service; therefore, the number of aviation schools and pilot training schools in the U.S. has increased to meet the demand for well-trained aviators. If you don't have a military background in aviation, you can learn the necessary skills to be a high-quality pilot with a comprehensive course from a FAA-approved aviation school.

Once you graduate from aviation school, you will have endless career possibilities. You could fly business and commercial transport planes, or work for a small airline company. You could become a free-lance pilot, flying whenever and wherever you choose. You could command a helicopter for search and rescue or first responder duties at accident sites. You could even open a business giving balloon rides! Of course, as an experienced aviator with an advanced education you could find fulfilling employment with one of the major airlines.

A flight school that is FAA-approved will offer thorough aviation training that can lead you to a productive career. Depending on the nature of the piloting you choose, your salary could range from $20,000 to $130,000 or more annually. So, you should think about your goals for the future, and what you expect to gain from flight school. Then, choose an FAA-approved aviation school that will meet your goals and desires for the future, and make your decision to start aviation school today!

If you would like to learn more about Aviation Schools, we invite you to visit our website. The true beginning of the era is usually considered to be December 17, 1903 when the Wright Brothers flew the first heavier than air powered plane a few hundred feet off a sand dune at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. This first plane could not fly much further because it was almost impossible to control it. In the next decade the wide spread use of ailerons made aircraft manageable and by the outbreak of World War I, aircraft had developed enough for the famous dogfights that took place during that war.

Although aircraft had come a long way during this time, they were not large enough to carry freight or passengers. A type of lighter than air craft called a dirigible was considered more practical for that purpose, and was seen as the future of aviation. By the mid 1930’s, the Douglas DC-3 was introduced and became the first practical airliner. At the end of the same decade, the Hindenburg Disaster ended the age of the dirigible.

Once again, it was a war that boosted the aviation age. World War II was a spur to a tremendous technological spurt in aviation. By the end of the war, we had large bombers and jet aircraft as well as rocket power. In the years after the war commercial airliners expanded rapidly connecting the entire world. The introduction of the Space Shuttle opened the idea of space as aviation’s next frontier.

Another area in which aviation has expanded recently is the area of personal aircraft. Pilot training has become available in small airports that provide the aviation supplies needed to service small personal aircraft. In addition to pilot training, the small airports sell pilot supplies and aircraft supplies such as the new models of David Clark headsets that provide communication while providing ear protection. It is possible to have your own plane kept in hangers in these small airports, or even to rent planes there.

In the coming years, aviation is expanding in two different directions. The first push is out into space, but the second area of expansion is the area of personal aircraft. In the years to come, it is possible that the day will arrive when a private aircraft is about as common as a privately owned motor vehicle and the globe will shrink a little more as more and more people take to the air.
By: Natalie Aranda

Aviation Maintenance Job Boards

Aviation maintenance opportunities can be found on various sites on the internet. When you operate any aircraft without a proper headset then you are sure to find it uncomfortable or it may even damage your ears. And finding the right headset is not easy. You have to ask suggestions and read reviews and know about them in detail before you purchase one. The headsets come in different designs and prices. These are tools which allow the pilot to communicate freely to the traffic control and it also eliminates the noise. The aviation headset should be of best quality and latest technology to give you a better experience. The telex headsets and the peltor headsets are considered to be the best headset for the following factors.

Certain factors that comprise a good aviation set:
• Noise reduction
The major factor you should consider is that your headset should provide you with the better passive noise reduction. The new technology to this is the active noise reduction. This in particular reduces the low frequency noises, like the engine sounds. The main reason why one needs a headset is to keep your hearing so a good head is that how far it reduces noise from getting you. The one with the better noise reduction is sure to make a best aviation headset. Sound is the most major thing to consider when you choose to fly. Telex headset provides you with the best protection and also at the same time you can enjoy the ambient sounds.
• Quality microphones and speakers
The second major thing of a good headset is that it should help you to communicate with ease and also clearly, with the help of an intercom, when talking to any other flight service. This is made possible only with the quality microphones and speakers. These headsets are not like the normal ones that are used to hear music, the best aircraft headsets should manage with the pressure changes caused due the altitude changes. The headset should withstand any extreme of temperature and also humidity. The best aviation headsets are made up of metal diaphragms and not the diaphragms made of paper. The peltor headset gives you the best microphones that provide you the best comfort and is available with compact design.

• Comfort
The aviation headset should be comfortable so that they can last as many hours you flight takes. If the headsets are tight you may suffer from headaches and it may also become a strain to your shoulders and neck. So the weight of these headsets should not be heavy. The padding in a headset also is important. Padding is more important for your ears. The materials used in the headset are more important when you think about comfort. The metal headsets are comparatively heavier than the plastic one but they are more adjustable. Many prefer gel pads as they provide better cushioning than foam but they are considerably heavy.

• Other factors
There are other features when you choose to buy a peltor headset or a telex headset. These provides you with additional facilities. There are headsets which are available with the carrying case so that you can carry it with ease. The headsets should have an option to control the volume levels. And it should be a warranty product. There should be clips to pin it with your shirt.
By: Caitlina Fuller

Garmin Aviation Gps – The Powerful Handheld For Pilots

Garmin Aviation GPS (Global Positioning System) is handheld and have all the features of the panel mounted units.
